AFU granted preservation order for KZN 'drug farm'
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Asset Forfeiture Unit has been granted a preservation order for a R1.2 million farm, near Newcastle, believed to have been used as a drug lab.
The National Prosecution Authority in KZN says the order for Tigerkloof Farm, which is about 132 hectares in Ingogo, was granted by the Pietermaritzburg High Court this week.
Spokesperson Natasha Kara says the Hawks made a drug bust in 2019 after receiving information from an informant.

She says evidence from the farm, including 25 kilos of meth, was linked to those seized from a clandestine drug lab.
"The farm will remain in the custody of the curator until the AFU obtains a forfeiture order."
Kara says when the search was conducted, it wasn't possible to determine who was responsible for the lab on Tigerkloof, which's why no one was arrested that day.
