Activist group wants equal rights to harvest cannabis
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A pro-cannabis group in KZN want to know why they’re not allowed to cultivate or smoke cannabis when a medical cannabis farm is operating near La Mercy, north of Durban.
Around 10 people protested against House of Hemp yesterday. Canna Culture’s Krithi Thaver wants to know what the organisation is doing with the plant once it’s ready for harvest.
"We're frustrated because we're winning these little cases along the way. Think about the people that have done their research," he said.
House of Hemp released a statement saying it grows the plant legally in a controlled environment.
It says it’s waiting for guidelines from the Medical Control Council with regards to general medical cannabis use.
House of Hemp has denied that it’s sold any plants or by-products of the research.
