Access to jabs in KZN ‘not the issue’ amid decline in inoculations

Access to Covid-19 vaccines isn't an issue in KwaZulu-Natal.
Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu has given the province that assurance.
She addressed the media on Sunday together with Premier Sihle Zikalala.
”We have more than enough in our facilities, we have more than enough in the whole province, which would include your rural areas. So we would actually call on people to come (and get vaccinated).”
Simelane-Zulu says the province, much like the rest of the country, has seen a drop in the number of people rolling up their sleeves for the Covid-19 vaccine.
“That is what we are worried about. The premier has given us a report from Sahpra (the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority) on the 29 fatalities that were reported to the regulatory body.
“The implication at the time was that they passed on because they were vaccinated. And of course the report we are receiving from Sahpra is that is not the case.
“That report that came out, it did make some communities to worry a little bit. As a result, out numbers of people who were vaccinated really went down.”
