AA predicts petrol price drop next month
Updated | By Portia Cele
The Automobile Association of SA is predicting the price of petrol to drop by between 55 and 64-cents a litre in September.
The AA expects diesel to cost up to 57-cents a litre less. Motorists breathed a sigh of relief earlier this month when fuel prices also came down.
The price of Brent crude oil is currently trading around the 46-dollar a barrel mark.
The AA's Layton Beard says South Africans could have been paying even less at the pumps had the Rand been stronger against the Dollar.
"Without the impact of the exchange rate, we would have predicted drops that would have been bigger than this in the range between 75 and 83-cents a litre. We are confident that fuel prices will drop at the end of August but if oil prices flatten out, motorists will be at the whim of the rand in coming months," he said.
