AA appeals for driver's licence deadline extension
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Automobile Association has made an urgent appeal to Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula.
It's asking Mbalula for another extension to Thursday's deadline for the renewal of driver's licences.
The AA says hundreds of thousands of drivers have still not been able to apply for their new cards.
It says it's been a bumpy road for applicants, given the recent problems with card production, challenges at Driving Licence Testing Centres and issues with the online booking system.

The organisation says it would be unrealistic to expect the enormous backlog of expired licences to be cleared by the end of the day.
Mbalula announced last year that licences that expired between the 26th of March 2020 and the 31st August 2021 will be valid until the end of this month.
