12 500 new Covid cases in SA

Three hundred and thirty-one more people, who contracted Covid-19 in South Africa, have died.
This brings the pandemic death toll to 62 171.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says over 12 500 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24-hour period.

This represents a 31.6% positivity rate.
Seven hundred new infections were picked up in KwaZulu-Natal.
Nationally, the number of people admitted to hospital for treatment has climbed to over 14 000, while 2.9 million people have received the coronavirus jab so far.
