Spokesperson, Khuselwa Rantjie says it's understood a driver was navigating a steep road when the vehicle came to a standstill - and reversed down a cliff.
"It is alleged that a bakkie carrying up to 12 people overturned, tragically killing 10. Emergency service personnel are still working to investigate the cause of the accident."
Rantjie says all those who died were women. The female driver and a man who was with them survived the crash - but are seriously injured.
It's believed the group had been headed to a church gathering.
