1 700 arrested in KZN for flouting lockdown regulations

Police say over 1 700 people have been arrested in KwaZulu-Natal for failing to comply with level 3 lockdown regulations.
Officers say the arrests were across the province with focus on hotspot areas.
Some arrests were also made in areas where reports of non-compliance were received.
KZN police spokesperson Jay Naicker says the operations were carried out between 16 and 27 June.

"One-thousand-seven-hundred-and-sixty-three individuals were arrested for various contraventions of the Level 3 lockdown regulations in the province.
"Police arrested 1025 persons in various public spaces for not wearing a mask. During this period, 592 people were arrested to failing to confine to their residence during the curfew while 137 were arrested for selling or consuming liquor in a public space, which is in contravention of the regulations."
