The magazine industry is known for its heavily photoshopped images, but has Vanity Fair taken things too far? The magazine released several different covers for its 28th annual Hollywood Issue.

Nicole Kidman is one of eight stars featured on the covers.

They were recognised for "breaking boundaries, thrilling audiences, and inventing the movieland they want to live in".

But instead of talking about Nicole's latest achievements  - such as her recent Oscar nomination for her role in 'Being the Ricardos' - many were more concerned with how she looked on the cover.

The 54-year-old actress was dressed in a head-to-toe Miu Miu Spring 2022 outfit. Her look featured a micro-mini, midriff-baring top, and knee-high socks.

Many social media users said the stylist made her look like a schoolgirl. One Twitter user went as far as saying Vanity Fair infantilised the actress.

Social media users were also enraged by the amount of photoshop used in the image.

"Are you serious @vanityfair???? The outfit is terrible, the style is a mess, and don't get me started on the photoshop. You did Nicole dirty," one user wrote.

Another user added: "Why are we trying to make a grown woman look like a 13-year-old girl?"

The 28th annual Hollywood Issue also features Kristen Stewart, Penélope Cruz, Benedict Cumberbatch, Simu Liu, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Andrew Garfield, and Idris Elba.

After nearly four decades in the acting business, Nicole told Vanity Fair that she enjoys being in a state of humility.

"My whole life is about staying in that place of humility—because you’re either in a place of humility or heading towards it. I still approach acting like I’ve just come out of drama school.," she told the publication.

Nicole added that her husband, country singer Keith Urban, shares the same sentiment. The couple is parents to daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. Nicole also shares Isabelle and Connor with Tom Cruise.
