Is Twilight's Robert Pattinson set to play Batman?

Robert Pattinson is reportedly in talks with Warner Bros. to play the lead role in 'The Batman'. 

According to Variety,  the 'Twilight' star is on the shortlist and is very close to signing off on a deal. 

American screenwriter and director Matt Reeves is planning to bring the latest Batman instalment to cinemas on June 25, 2021.

Robert playing the lead will certainly create major hype for the movie, but not everyone is convinced he is the right actor for the role

Social media users have already expressed disappointment in Matt Reeves and Warner Bros.'s choice for the beloved superhero. 

Batman fans just can't get over the fact that Robert once played a vampire that sparkled in the sunlight. 

Robert Pattinson and Batman were both trending on Twitter shortly after the news broke.

Robert and Warner Bros. can take comfort in the fact that DC Comics fans usually react with disdain whenever the new Batman is announced.

Previous actors to play the role include Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, and George Clooney. 

Ben proved himself to be a great Batman despite first getting flak for taking on the role.

We think Robert just might be the Batman we didn't think we needed!
