Lil Wayne apologises after missing opening night of tour
Lil Wayne has apologised after failing to appear for the opening night of his '20 Years of Carter Classics' tour.
Fans of Lil Wayne were left disappointed after the rapper failed to appear for the opening night of his '20 Years of Carter Classics' tour.
The tour was scheduled to kick off at the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor, Maine. While fellow performers, including 2 Chainz and the tour’s DJ, took to the stage and entertained the crowd, Lil Wayne never made an appearance.
Following the incident, the rapper took to his Instagram Stories on July 1 to apologise to fans.
“My Maine fans. I’m so sorry. The show is being rescheduled for July 28. Please hold on to your tickets, they will be honored for the rescheduled date. More information will be emailed directly to the ticketholders," he wrote.
He also thanked fans for their continued support, adding: “I can’t wait to come back and give you the show you deserve. I love you all.”
Many disappointed concertgoers took to social media to share their frustration. One fan reportedly claimed they had driven six hours to attend the concert, only to discover that the headlining act would not be performing.
Another one wrote on X: "I was front row at the Maine show! My fiancé and I were so excited to see you! It was a gift for her and you ruined the night by not showing up! Sucks man! A lot of fans disappointed including one of your biggest!"
The reason for Lil Wayne’s absence has not been publicly disclosed.
The incident comes amid a string of recent concert disruptions involving major artists. Last week, Lionel Richie was forced to postpone a performance after reportedly falling ill and being transported by ambulance before taking the stage.
Meanwhile, Rod Stewart has also experienced recent health-related setbacks that affected his live performances, disappointing fans who had hoped to see him perform.
