South African singer Jesse Clegg celebrated the opportunity to perform the national anthem at an international rugby match.

Clegg was in Baltimore on 12 September, where the Springboks faced the All Blacks in their fourth Test match of the Greatest Rivalry tour.

Dressed in a black suit and white shirt, Clegg delivered a powerful rendition of 'Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika' ahead of the final clash of the tournament.

In a post shared on Instagram, Clegg, who is the son of the late legendary singer Johnny Clegg, reflected on the experience, calling it an honour.

"What an incredible honour to sing the South African national anthem ahead of the Springboks vs All Blacks in Baltimore.

"Standing in that stadium and singing for my country, the team and thousands of South Africans was an experience I’ll never forget."

The 'Hurricane' hitmaker thanked the organisers for having him and congratulated the Springboks on their victory.

During Clegg’s performance, some of the Springboks, including captain Siya Kolisi, could be seen singing along, adding to the emotional moment before the match.

Clegg's fans on social media also praised the singer for his rendition of the national anthem

"You brought the tears! Even to the Boks. Beautiful," one said.

"Your dad above is proud of you. And so are we," another fan added.

A fourth user said: "Absolutely nobody could have done it better. Your Dad was undoubtedly beaming with pride over the rainbow. So proud Smashed it"

"Well done Jesse, super proud of you and hearing your dad song rocking in the stadium! The Cleggs live on!"

SuperSport Rugby also shared a video of the performance, with Clegg commenting that it was a “real honour”.
