Connie Ferguson has shared an emotional post celebrating Shona Ferguson's 'heavenly birthday'.

Shona, who passed away in July 2021 from COVID-19-related complications, would have turned 52 this week.

"Rra tlhe I miss you! This week has been especially challenging!" Connie wrote on Instagram.

"Not sure what’s happening in the galaxies, but wow! It’s been an emotional roller coaster! The kids and I have been talking a lot about you."

The 'Kings of Jo'Burg' actress has two children, Lesedi Matsunyane-Ferguson and Alicia 'Ali' Ferguson.

The couple welcomed Alicia in 2002. Lesedi is from a previous relationship. Shona had a close relationship with both children, with Lesedi taking on his last name.

"Honestly, I talk about you to anyone who cares to listen, at every given opportunity! You’re so much a part of me, the fact that it’s almost 5 years since your departure does not even register," Connie continued.

"Your memory is still so vivid! Like all our experiences were recent. I laugh a lot when I think about you."

It has been a tough few years for the Ferguson family, and some days are harder than others.

"Yes, there are tears sometimes, but laughter is guaranteed! Thank you, Sho, for a love [that] transcends space and time! My forever ena! Happy Heavenly Birthday, my KING," the 55-year-old wrote.

Alicia also paid tribute to her dad on social media.

Happy Heavenly Birthday Fah. It still doesn’t get easier every time days like this occur," she said.

"The miss is always there, and I honestly feel lost without you. There have been so many moments where I just wanted to call you to talk about our days, vent or even just have you on the line without saying anything."

Alicia also shared some of the things she misses about her father.

"I miss your warmth, I miss your presence, I miss your scent, I miss your hugs, I miss your laughter, I miss you. Yoh Fah, it’s been tough, but what makes me a bit happy is that you are resting in peace and I pray you’ll continue doing so."

Lesedi reflected on her fondest memories of Shona, including what he would usually do on his birthday.

"You would’ve woken up around 7am, after going to bed around 1/2am, gone to gym, make your shake, then work on your laptop or go to your meetings," she wrote.

"You would’ve left the house and a trail of cologne would linger to let us know you’ve left. Later on that same scent would let us know you’ve returned.

"You’d either want private school porridge or you’d tell me you’re craving “something naarce” and either way, I’d make it happen. Honestly, dude, you had no understanding of the concept of REST, even on your birthday. I hope you’re resting PROPERLY over there."

Lesedi revealed that Shona's birthday and the day he died are especially tough, noting that "grief likes knocking on my door".

"I think most of this time has been spent with thinking you’re away on the other side of the world instead of on the other side of life. It’s hard to compute that you’re really not here - even almost half a decade later. I miss you."
