ANC's win over KZN not surprising: Analyst
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A local political analyst says it is not surprising that the ANC managed to hold on to KZN.
Speaking on the provincial election results released yesterday, Lubna Nadvi says the party has a strong support base in the province.
The ANC won majority of the 1 846 seats - winning 1 076 seats across all municipalities, districts and wards in KZN.
Nadvi says the party now needs to look closely at the percentage it won in the province.
"I think the ANC was overly confident. It assumed that people would continue supporting it based on the history of the party's long involvement in the political struggle," she said.
"They were overly confident in this regard. So that is where they were wrong," Nadvi said.
