ANC already in coalition talks
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
With the final votes coming in for Gauteng, the ANC has revealed that the narrow gap between the ruling party and the DA in some corners of the country is not a sign of lack of support, but rather an indication of a vibrant democracy.
Adressing media at the IEC's national results centre in Pretoria this morning, ANC Gauteng chairperson Paul Mashatile disclosed that a coalition is very much on the cards for the ANC.
However, he remained mum on which parties the ANC were currently in coalition talks with.
"Well at the moment we took an approach that we shouldn't say yet who we are talking to. People get offended if you announce them whilst you are still talking. At the right time we'll indicate who we are talking to, but we can confirm we are into negotiations."
The ANC and DA are currently neck-and-neck in the 3 biggest metros in Gauteng: Tshwane, Johannesburg and
Ekurhuleni, respectively.
