Orlando Pirates have beaten Golden Arrows 3-1 in the Absa Premiership. Tendai Ndoro scored a second half hat-trick for the Buccaneers in Johannesburg last night.

Ndoro said after the game that coach, Muhsin Ertugral, had urged him at half-time to get closer to the opposition goal.

"The coach told me he wanted me in the box and I felt a bit down after the first half. However, my first goal gave me my confidence back. We are lucky to have such a great coach."

Kurt Lentjies scored for Maritzburg United in their 1-0 league victory at Bloemfontein Celtic.

Platinum Stars defeated Supersport United 1-0 with Robert Ngambi scoring the only goal at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Manchester City are through to the Champions League group stage.

Fabian Delph scored the only goal in their 1-0 second leg win over Steaua Bucharest last night.

City won 6-0 on aggregate.

FC Rostov advanced at the expense of Ajax Amsterdam.

Rostov won the second leg of their Champions League qualifier 4-1.

Borussia Moenchengladbach booked their group stage spot with a 6-1 second leg thumping of Swiss club Young Boys.

Adnan Januzaj scored for Sunderland in a 1-0 League Cup win over Shrewsbury Town last night.

Fulham beat Middlesbrough 2-1, while Bournemouth won 2-1 at Morecambe.

Manchester City will start their League Cup title defence against Swansea City.

Manchester United will face Northampton in their League Cup third round tie.

Arsenal have drawn Nottingham Forest and Chelsea will see action at Leicester City.

Liverpool will meet Derby County in their League Cup third round tie.

Other ties include Everton v Norwich and Newcastle v Wolves.

Dan Kriel will miss the Absa Currie Cup action in Durban this Saturday.

Kriel is injured and will not feature for the Blue Bulls against the Cell C Sharks.
