Security top priority at Rage festival: Organisers
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
Organisers of the Rage Festival say security is top priority at this year's Pens-down party.
The festival kicked-off on Thursday. The annual event is in its 12th year and will see thousands of matriculants from across the country descend on Durban's north coast to celebrate the official end of their school careers.
Organiser, Greg Walsh, says at least 800 security staff are working across all venues this year.
A Rage-ride network system is also being used to ensure safe transport for all party goers.
"We also have Rage Rail, which connects from Ballito compensation through to Moses Mabhida stadium and they can take a safe walk across with security to Kings Park stadium", he said.
"So security is a massive thing for us. We also have a very responsible approach to security. We do not condone this 'bouncer mentality' and using force. For us it is very much about passive crowd management", Walsh said.
