SA the cheapest country to live in: study
Updated | By Heart FM News
One economist says it's not surprising a new study has found South Africa to be the cheapest country in the world.
'Go Banking Rates' has found our nation to be the cheapest to live in and retire out of 112 countries.
The research has compared the cost of living in New York.
Some South Africans may be surprised to hear this, as the economy struggles to grow.
Analyst, Mike Schussler, believes we may not be the cheapest, but still very cheap.
"You have to work less here for a loaf of bread in minutes than you would in London. We've got to appreciate that we've done pretty well. The problem with South Africans is we like to believe our own negativity and we keep telling people how poor we are.
"The fact of the matter is that we are on the better side of most things and we are on the cheaper side of most things. We keep forgetting that," he said.
