Picture of couple picnicking with police van goes viral
The South African Police Service has slammed the actions of a couple seen in a picture picnicking in a park seemingly after arriving in a police van.
In the photo, the couple in civilian clothes can be seen enjoying each other's company while seated on the ground on the passenger side of the police vehicle.
Both the front doors are open but it's not known if there was anyone in the van.
It's also not yet clear which part of the country the incident took place in or when the photo was taken.
The picture is making the rounds on social media with many making reference to Valentine's Day on Sunday.
KZN police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says state vehicles aren't for personal use.
"Any one who is misusing police resources such as vehicles must be reported to the police so that the police will take strong action against those who are misusing police resources.
"We encourage the members of the community to please assist us if they see anyone misusing the vehicles. They must please contact the police or our crime stop number," he said.
