No truth to proposed fees increase: UKZN management
Management at UKZN says damage to the institution's property during student protests this year is in the region of R60-million.
Unrest on its campuses has seen a section of a law library, a cafeteria, several security vehicles, and the entrance of a student resident set alight.

Yesterday morning, students at the Westville campus went on the rampage, overturning another security vehicle - leading to classes being suspended.
The university's Lesiba Seshoka says the situation is calm now at all their campuses, and classes have since resumed. However, there's still a strong police presence.

Students have been reacting to claims that the university had decided on a 7.5 % fee increase for next year.

But Seshoka says nothing has been proposed at this stage.
"Council will meet on the 14th to have a discussion on various issues. As to whether that's part of the agenda I wouldn't know. Usually council meet around November to finalize their proposal for fee increases. As yet, there hasn't been any proposal tabled," he said.
