Umlazi high school celebrates 100% pass rate

The Umlazi township's best performing school, Menzi High School has clinched a 100% pass rate for the fifth year running.
The south Durban school was among the top schools in the Umlazi District - one of the best performers in KZN.
Teachers at the school celebrated in ululation this morning saying they have done it again. This despite the tragic lose of long serving and award winning principal Felix Mshololo at the beginning of the 2015 academic year.

More than half of the students who sat down for matric exams obtained bachelor passes at the school - 96 out of the 161 learners - an improvement from last year's 93.
Menzi High School's top pupil, Samke Ndlovu, achieved seven distinctions in all of her subjects.
The 18-year-old intends to pursue a degree in Actuarial Science at Wits University.
Ndlovu says hard work pays off.
"I have worked very hard and I was motivated by my teachers and my late principle. My word of advice is that if I was able to do it, they can also do it. If they work hard, they will achieve and prosper in life," she said.
The province's matric pass rate has declined by 9%, at 60.7%.
