Man killed in Umbilo tanker crash
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
A man's been killed after a tanker crashed in Durban's Umbilo area last night.
The tanker had been carrying a substance thought to be hydrochloric acid when it overturned near the flyover from the M7.
KZN Emergency Medical Services' Robert Mckenzie says various emergency services were called to the scene.
''Paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services as well as firefighters from eThekwini Fire Department and several emergency services responded to the crash, one person was also seriously injured in the crash,'' he said.
It's still unclear what caused the accident. Durban Metro Police say the eastbound off-ramp from the M7 onto Umbilo Road is still closed to traffic. The tanker hasn't yet been removed from the scene.
