Madonsela on ethical courage, upholding the law

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela says there’s a growing demand for accountability and ethical behaviour in the country.
She was addressing an ethics conference in Johannesburg today.
Speaking on ethical courage, the Public Protector and Auditor General shared their views.
Madonsela believed there's a rebirth of ethical leadership happening in the country.
"I see a bright future - firstly because there is this moment - the Ethics Movement - that is growing. There's this dialogue including a lot of ethics these days. Government is also having discussions that include ethics," she said.
In a few months, her tenure as Public Protector ends. Thuli Madonsela says she isn't worried about who will replace her.
"Ideally, we would prefer a professional who has consistently upheld the law. I'm not saying the person will have to be an angel but a certain level of integrity is expected in Section 195 of the Constitution," Madonsela said.
