IFP in KZN expels two councillors for voting with ANC
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The IFP has expelled two northern KZN councillors with immediate for defying resolutions taken by the party to work with the DA and EFF.
Duduzile Masondo and Nyanga Ndlangamandla were sworn-in yesterday as councillors in the eDumbe Municipality.
Deputy National Spokesperson Joshua Mazibuko says the two defied the party when they voted with the ANC in yesterday's inaugural meeting of the eDumbe Council.
It's being reported that Ndlangamandla accepted a nomination from the ANC as a Deputy Mayor.
Mazibuko says it's still too early to say who will take over the vacant positions.
"We had a cooperation agreement with both the DA and the EFF that we were going to cooperate in all the municipalities after the local government elections. And in eDumbe they went against that - in fact they defied the leadership and the leaders who have chosen them and they cooperated with the ANC," he said.
Mazibuko added that the expelled councillors are no longer members of the IFP, and won't be representing the party in the eDumbe municipality.
