Harsher sentences for police murderers, says Mchunu
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
Harsher sentences need to be meted out to criminals who hurt or murder police officers.
That's the view of KZN MEC for Community Safety and Liaison Willies Mchunu.
He made the comment yesterday while addressing additional officers ahead of their deployment to Durban's troubled Glebelands and KwaMashu hostels.

Mchunu said it cannot be tolerated that people who work to serve and protect society are attacked and killed.
''All of us have raised our voices very high against the killing of police and if this person is one of those he must be condemned. If found guilty, he must be condemned to the maximum sentence that this country can offer,'' he said.
The MEC also commended the men and women in blue for their efforts to bring criminals to book.
