Field's Hill crash claims two lives
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Authorities are investigating a crash involving two delivery vehicles on Field's Hill yesterday that claimed the lives of two men.
Emergency services reached the scene at around 4.30pm to find the two victims trapped inside one of the vehicles. One of the vehicles allegedly veered across the centre median into oncoming traffic.
ER24's Werner Vermaak says paramedics managed to free one of the patients from the cabin.
"Unfortunately shortly after he was freed, he succumbed to his injuries. Firefighters and rescue services managed to free the second trapped victim using hydraulic tools and the jaws of life. Sadly, a few moments after he was freed, his vitals deteriorated," he said.
Two men from the second delivery vehicle were taken to hospital.
