Da L.E.S and AKA's fans are celebrating the on-again friends following their appearance at Cotton Fest 2022. The festival was co-founded by the late Riky Rick

During his set at the festival, AKA surprised the crowd by bringing out his on-again friend.

The rappers reportedly fell out in recent years and things appeared to come to a head in 2020 when Da L.E.S released his single, 'Gucci Snakes'.

Many believed the song was about AKA. An anonymous source also told 'Podcast & Chill' host MacG in a letter that the 'Congratulate' hitmaker allegedly had a romantic relationship with Da L.E.S' baby mama, Aurea Alexander.

But Da L.E.S quashed the claims during an episode of 'Lasizwe's Drink Or Tell The Truth' YouTube show late last year.

"No 1, that track was never about AKA and that’s on period. No 2, don’t believe everything that people say, and No 3, I love my family with all my heart so I just decided to choose a path of family," he said when asked about the rumours.

He also shed light on their alleged beef during an episode of 'Behind The Story'.

"People who know me know I’m a non-confrontational guy, you know what I’m saying? If I don’t really get with your energy anymore I have to protect my energy first. So that’s where the relationship is right now. It's putting my energy first, self-preservation first and I just keep it moving. All that 'he said, she said', I’m not with all of that,” he said.

Cotton Fest 2022 was a major success. The festival was originally scheduled to take place on 19 and 20 March but had to be postponed after Riky Rick's death.

Riky's wife, Bianca Naidoo, assured fans that the show would go on in order to keep his spirit and legacy alive.

"What better way to do this than to continue the work Riky has already started. Cotton Fest needs to go ahead as planned by him! His love and belief in showcasing young and upcoming talent is unquestionable, which is how Cotton Fest came about a few years back," she said in a statement.

Some of this year's performers at the sold-out festival included Cassper Nyovest, Nadia Nakai, Rouge, Lady Du, Khuli Chana, Nasty C, Kwesta, Sjava, Uncle Waffles, and Shekhinah.

All performers paid tribute to Riky Rick.

"Thank you Cotton Fest. My heart is warm. He definitely was with us tonight," Cassper tweeted after his set.
