SASSA confirms payment dates for September 2026

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the payment dates for September 2026.
The agency has also urged beneficiaries who are still using the old gold cards to replace them with the new Postbank black cards before the 31 August 2026 deadline.
SASSA has warned beneficiaries that failing to migrate to the new cards could disrupt their grant payments as the old SASSA cards are being phased out.
Beneficiaries who still have a gold SASSA card are encouraged to switch before the deadline to avoid potential interruptions.
How to replace your SASSA card
Beneficiaries can access the card replacement process through several channels.
They can dial *120355# from their mobile phones, visit their nearest SASSA office, or visit participating retailers offering the card replacement service.
These include:
- Shoprite
- Checkers
- Usave
- Pick n Pay
- Boxer
- Spar
SASSA September 2026 payment dates
These are the confirmed payment dates for September:
* Older Persons Grant: Wednesday 2 September 2026
* Disability Grant: Thursday 3 September 2026
* Children’s Grant: Friday 4 September 2026
* Other grants: Monday 7 September 2026, (fourth-day payment for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.)
SASSA beneficiaries under review
For beneficiaries under review who do not receive their grants on the respective days, SASSA has confirmed that payment will be processed on Monday, 7 September.
“Beneficiaries who do not receive their grants on 02, 03 or 04 September 2026 should not panic or rush to SASSA offices. If a beneficiary's grant is under review, payment will be processed on Monday, 07 September 2026, provided that the review requirements have been met,” the agency said in a statement.
SASSA says beneficiaries can send a WhatsApp message to 082 601 0111 to check whether they are required to undergo a grant review.
“The WhatsApp service provides beneficiaries with a convenient self-service platform to confirm their status without necessarily having to visit a SASSA office. Beneficiaries are encouraged to make use of this channel, particularly where they suspect that their contact details may not be up to date or where they are uncertain whether SASSA requires their attention regarding their grant.”
