Matric 2026 final exam timetable is out: Here’s when exams start
Updated | By Poelano Malema
In a few weeks, the matric class of 2026 will start their final exams. Here's the full National Senior Certificate examination timetable.
The end of the school year is fast approaching, and for the matric class of 2026, the countdown to their final examinations is officially on.
For many matrics, these exams mark an important milestone after years of hard work and preparation. The results could also play a major role in determining their next steps, particularly for learners hoping to secure a place at university or college.
The Department of Basic Education has released the final timetable for the 2026 National Senior Certificate examinations.
The written examinations will officially begin on 13 October 2026 and conclude on 26 November. However, examinations for subjects such as Life Orientation, Computer Applications Technology (CAT), Performing Arts and Visual Arts and Design may take place outside this period.
With the pressure of final examinations mounting, learners are encouraged to use the remaining weeks to prepare, familiarise themselves with their examination schedule and make time for each subject.
In a statement posted on the South African Government earlier this year, MEC for Education in the KZN provincial government, Sipho Hlomuka encouraged learners to:
- Follow all examination rules strictly.
- Arrive early at your centres with your admission letter and valid ID.
- Stay calm, read questions carefully, and manage your time well.
- Believe in the hard work you have put in.
