South Africans are slowly adjusting to life under lockdown and with experts warning that it could take 12 to 18 months for a fully tested coronavirus vaccine to arrive, this could be our "new normal" for a while.

Face masks have also become a big part of our day-to-day lives.

As of May 1, all citizens are required to wear a cloth face mask whenever they leave their homes - as per President Cyril Ramaphosa's orders.

Health officials have issued some guidelines on fabric masks, including how many layers are ideal.

Wearing a mask doesn't mean you can ignore social distancing rules or slack on washing your hands - which experts say is one of the most effective ways to decrease the spread of the deadly virus.

N95 masks, which are currently in short supply, are being reserved for healthcare staff and even if you do get your hands on one, you are likely to pay R150 plus.
