Add these songs to your Suncoast ECR Big Walk playlist
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
There will be plenty of entertainment along the Big Walk route, but if you want to lock in on the finish line, this playlist will keep you moving.
Music is food for the soul, and in this case, the soles of your shoes, because this playlist is perfect for the Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk.
Excitement is building as thousands of KwaZulu-Natal residents prepare for Sunday's event.
"This year’s theme, Walking In Your Shoes, encourages participants to see life from different perspectives, connect meaningfully with others, and move forward as one, making every step more powerful than ever."
No outdoor activity is complete without some good music, which is why you need a Big Walk playlist.
There will be live entertainment, your favourite East Coast Radio presenters, and exciting interactive activations along the route.
However, if you want to lock in on your personal best time, this playlist will help you do so. A high-energy or inspiring song could be the motivation you need to complete the walk by the 12:00 cut-off.
For many people, the Big Walk is a fun way to spend time with family, friends and colleagues, but the Gerda Steyn in some of us is aiming for the fastest finish.
Put a spring in your step with a music playlist that will make your feet forget you are walking a 5km or 10km.

ECR Top 40 favourites
1. 'Baby Steps' - Olivia Dean
Start the Big Walk with a song that sets the tone for the rest of the route. Olivia Dean's 'Baby Steps' is a reminder that you got this. It's about self-love and the courage to keep going even when things get tough, especially when you're running a 5km or 10km for the first time.
"I'll be my own pair of safe hands/ It's not the end, it's the making of/ Right, left, for now/ I'm taking baby steps," Dean sings.
2. 'Stateside' - PinkPantheress, Zara Larsson
Kick things into higher gear with PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson's dance-pop single, 'Stateside'. You'll be dancing all the way to the end with this upbeat track.
"What can I say? (Uh-huh) What can I do?" Keep walking to that finish line, girl!
3. 'Looking Lovely' - Shaggy, Robin Thicke
Sometimes you need some positive affirmations, like you're looking lovely on this Big Walk. When you look good, you feel good, and that's the kind of spirit you need to keep going. Even if you're huffing and puffing through those last few kilometres, you'll be looking lovely in your Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk t-shirt.
"Might I say you that you look lovely this evening/ You're beautiful and it shows/ And I can't help but say how I'm feeling," Thicke sings in 'Looking Lovely'.
4. 'Run My Way' - December 10
Dance and flip our hair as you make your way down Durban's promenade with December 10's 'Run My Way'. The English-Irish boy band's debut single is just what you need for a last-minute confidence boost.
"And baby you can run my way/ Someone like you should be walkin' on air/ Dancing and flippin' your hair," the group sings.
5. 'Moyo' - Mario Arend
It's smooth sailing once you get to Mario Arend's 'Moyo' on your Big Walk playlist. You need some heart to help you get to the end, which is what moyo means in Zulu. The song was inspired by heartbreak, but you will feel anything but sad by the time it ends.
"In a world where electronic music often prioritises immediacy and distraction, 'MOYO' offers something different: emotional presence. It acknowledges pain without glorifying it, and ends with a message that feels quietly powerful — healing is possible, and hope can grow from loss," Arend said about the track.
Local is lekker...
You can't go wrong with these local favourites. They are fun, upbeat and inspiring.
The perfect vibe for a 5km walk or 10km run.
6. 'Shake Ah' - Tyla
7. 'Ngishutheni' - Goon Flavour, Master KG & Eemoh
8. 'Until Until' - Shekhinah
