We checked in with our fellow KZN residents to get a sense of the conditions around the province...

In light of recent events, many are feeling the severe effects of the heavy downpours that began on Saturday 22 May.

As reported by ECR Newswatch, KZN has been moved to a level 10 weather warning.

Last night, we spoke to Dr. Imtiaz Sooliman to get a sense of the conditions in KZN and to also get some advice on how to manage our safety where possible.

As indicated by numerous videos last night and this morning, areas like Umdloti, the Bluff, the South Coast and Tongaat are reportedly some of the heavily affected suburban areas.

The already weak infrastructure from the first #KZNFloods have been further damaged, with mentions of new areas also been affected.

  • "My son and I are fine, so is my mom. We've got power and water in Montclair and Woodlands."
  • "We're fine here in Umkhanyakude, northern KZN, it's only overcast at the moment."
  • "Wet and cold in Isipingo. Thank goodness no major flooding."
  • "We are trapped in La Mercy. All roads around us are closed. No water, no electricity, no escape."
  • "I'm just feeling so anxious, I'm in the Phoenix area. My heart goes out to all those who are affected, hoping that there are no lives lost."
  • "We are fine in a Kwamashu hostel as much its a rainy day but we are fine. "
  • "The sun is out in stanger. Very windy and clouds are rolling in now. Praying for everyone who has been affected with the floods. Keep safe."
  • "My washed out dj gig in Mount Edgecombe country club last night was like a river flowing through the building....."
  • "We are ok where we stay in Durban North but what's with no Electricity since yesterday afternoon."
