"Humble, courageous and selfless are just a few words to describe the Community Life Centre, situated in Welbedatch East (between Chatsworth and Umlazi) this organisation is transforming lives by making love a verb.

They have been serving the community for 20 years from the Community Centre in Welbedatch East now extending their vision to Khanishwa and Umkomaas. They feed over 250 children daily and provide residential care to 30 orphans.

During the lockdown they faced much hardship with shortages with food and still pushed on, asking anyone and everyone to help. Coming from this community I can tell you first hand how drugs, poverty and prostitution rule these lands but these people have inspired to be more, inspired to be better and help people.

They are now sending children for tertiary studies and even housing them whilst they finish their degrees. Our children who roam the street know there is a lighthouse in our community- we go there for food, counselling, groceries and even medical attention. People are fond of begging at their gate because they are never turned away.

I nominate this organisation because they are one of the few colour blind organisation that sees no race, or gender but see the human race in need of help. they see the nation that was once divided becoming united because of the change. they didn't ask others to change but they became the example.

I urge to please help this organisation, go and see what they are doing."

Kagiso Media Relief Fund is proud to award Community Life Centre R12,500. Listen to their winning moment here:

"Stephanie and her husband Hoosen has been feeding the homeless on the streets of Pinetown for many years now. Last year when the original founder emigrated Stephanie took overrunning the kitchen and selflessly feeds 150 people twice a week and since being in lockdown has supported the shelter at Lahee Park assisting with meals 3 times a day for over 150 people.

They have been dedicated and sometimes go without themselves just to ensure those without are cared for. They also put food parcels together for families in the area so they don't just focus on. One area. El Gibbor is really fantastic and supplies the people of Pinetown with hope for a better future"
