Sibongile Mbambo and Phumlani Mbokazi face charges relating to the hijacking and kidnapping of the one-month-old child.

Earlier today, Mbambo told Judge Mohamed Motala she didn't know why her legal representative was not in court.

Judge Motala postponed the case until Wednesday - so that a paternity test can be conducted to determine who the father of little Siwaphiwe is.

A third suspect - a woman - who was taken into custody after police intercepted a car at Mariannhill Toll plaza early yesterday morning - has not made an appearance today.

Reports that Siwaphiwe was taken by two hijackers in the Durban CBD on Friday - sparked a massive police search that also involved members of the community.

There was anger and disappointment when officers found the newborn with her mother. Earlier today, a group of angry protesters gathered outside the court - calling for justice for baby Siwaphiwe.
