The city of Durban is set to play host to the fifth edition of the Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 Durban triathlon event. The Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 Durban takes place on Sunday, 2 June 2019.
The 2019 Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 in Durban is like no other, as it kicks off at the uShaka Beach, on Durban’s Golden Mile, where athletes will start with a refreshing 1.9km swim, followed by a 90km bike course that loops around Blue Lagoon and then moves along onto the M4 highway.
The run portion of the race comprises of a 21.1km, along the promenade with spectacular views. The course is mostly flat, so you can expect fast times.
Much of the excitement of the race surrounds the 60 qualifying slots that are up for grabs to the 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France. Slot allocation will be directly after the race, and athletes must be at the Barnyard Theatre (SUNCOAST) at 17h30 in person to claim their slot for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. No doubt athletes will be giving it their all as they seek to get a once in a lifetime opportunity of racing an IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship event in France.
