Laugh until your stomach hurts with Andre The Hilarious Hypnotist

One moment, you're sitting in the audience laughing your head off, and the next thing you know, you're up on stage riding a plastic chair like a horse.

Popular hypnotist André Grove is returning to Durban for three days of guided chaos.

'Andre The Hilarious Hypnotist - Planned Pandemonium' is showing at The Rhumbelow Theatre this weekend, and he promises to make the audience laugh until their sides hurt.

"People come for the hypnosis, but they stay for the laughter. The real stars of the show are the volunteers on stage. I simply guide the fun—what they do under hypnosis is what makes every night different," he said.

André has been in the business of comedy and hypnosis for over three decades, and his interactive onstage antics are fun for the whole family.

He has convinced audience members that they are famous rock stars, dinosaurs, and professional ballroom dancers.

"When the mind accepts the suggestion, anything can happen," he said on Instagram.

So what can audiences expect from Andre The Hilarious Hypnotist's shows other than non-stop laughter?

Speaking to Press Portal in 2023, he explained how hypnosis works.

"There are normally three stages when judging a volunteer. Your first stage is what we experience every day, for instance, when driving a car, a great example of this is if I told you not to think of a pink elephant – the first thing you think of is a pink elephant," he said.

"The second level will elicit a response from the volunteers on stage, but they might laugh or giggle while performing the action. It is not a case of the person not being hypnotised, but rather the person laughing at themselves for performing the action and not having any idea why they are indeed doing so," André continued.

"Your third stage or your somnambulistic stage is the deepest stage and at this level the volunteer will do most, if not everything, you tell them to do. Keep in mind that the person's actions are still determined by their morals and values."

Get ready to let go of your inhibitions and have some fun!
