eThekwini Kota Festival: Bigger, better and tastier

The best kota dishes are coming to Durban, and you can enjoy them while watching some of South Africa's biggest artists perform.

South Africa's popular street food sandwich is taking centre stage at the eThekwini Kota Festival in Durban.

The kota, which is also known as sphatlho or sphatlo, is the ultimate breakfast, lunch, and supper sandwich.

Think of it as a messier, bigger, and dare we say tastier version of the bunny chow.

Instead of curry, it's filled with a variety of fillings, including eggs, chips, sausages, cheese, and just about anything that will make your mouth water.

The eThekwini Kota Festival takes things to the next level, with top vendors from across KwaZulu-Natal putting their own spin on the iconic sandwich.

It's more than just a food festival. Several top artists will also be performing. Some of the big names to look forward to include Nasty C, Sjava, Kabza de Small, Big Zulu, BLXCKIE, and R&B singer Elaine.

"This festival promises to be a feast for the senses, featuring a diverse lineup of various artists from around the country," organisers said.

"The eThekwini Kota Festival is not just about food; it’s about community, culture, and celebration."

Somizi Mhlongo and Napo Modise are expected to host the festival.

"Whether you're a kota connoisseur or trying it for the first time, this event is a must-attend for food lovers and festival enthusiasts alike!"
