KwaZulu-Natal Museum's Easter holiday activities line-up
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
The KZN Museum's Easter holiday programme is a must for families looking for affordable hands-on and fun educational activities.
Not sure what to do with the kids this Easter? The KwaZulu-Natal Museum has four exciting activities planned.
"Our Easter Holiday offerings will have you hopping with joy," museum officials said.
The KZN Museum is one of the province's precious cultural spaces. It is home to unique collections and exhibitions celebrating KZN's diverse cultures and history.
Visitors to the museum can explore galleries dedicated to natural and cultural history, including mammals such as the last wild elephant in Zululand, which was shot in 1916.
The elephant's death made international headlines at the time. "There is not a single elephant left in Zululand, once a paradise for the great animals. The last survivor was found dead the other day on a farm on the banks of the Unfolozi River, where he had lived since the early part of the reign of the great chief, Cetewayo," The New York Times wrote in April 1916.
There is also a life-size model of a Tyrannosaurus rex and a recreation of a Drakensberg cave complete with rock art.
Here's a look at some of the upcoming events the museum has planned.
