Apple have made things harder for criminals to sell a stolen iPhone
Apple just made it harder for thieves to make money off of stolen iPhones.

Apple is making it difficult for thieves to send in stolen iPhones for repairs and then sell them off.

How are they doing this?
The technicians at Apple stores or Apple Authorised Service Providers are encouraged to consult the GSMA Device Registry first before repairs in order to determine if the phone they've received has been registered as missing or stolen.
If the phone is listed in the registry as missing, they can then refuse to work on that iPhone.
This is definitely a great procedure they're implementing!

The news comes from MacRumors, a website that aggregates Mac and Apple related news, rumours, and reports.

Another way they are keeping iPhone users safe is that Apple Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers are not allowed to repair an iPhone if the customer is unable to disable the "Find My iPhone" function.
