Derek Schmidt lives in China but escaped to Australia for his safety. He spoke to Darren Maule and explained what it was like when the news broke about the Coronavirus.
In an exclusive interview with a South African living in China, Derek Schmidt explains the moment his life was turned upside down.
The Chinese government placed a notice on his home about the virus, and that is when he started to worry.
He explains how they weren't allowed to leave their home - they were isolated from the world.
But Derek managed to get out and is currently in Australia until Saturday.
