This morning on Five Things You Need To Know As You Wake Up, we shared a story about a 36-year-old Ballito man, chef Chris Kruger, who was reported missing after the heavy storms. Chris had gone out to a building site to do target practice with his air guns and unfortunately got stuck in the storm.

The chef was stranded without his phone and the area was completely cut off from the outside world.

Luckily, helicopter pilot, Prem Balram from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was on duty and managed to find the stranded chef.

According to RUSA, the Chris had planned on doing target practice with air rifles at a construction site between the M1 and M2. He was unfortunately stuck in the location following heavy rains that made it impossible for his Mazda 2 to drive through the mud.

Take a listen as Prem shares how he was able to locate Chris and the condition in which they found him.
