The SANDF has deployed 10 000 troops to KwaZulu-Natal to help authorities manage the aftermath of one of the worst floods to hit the province in 62 years. Named Operation Chariot, the deployment will see soldiers assist in security support, mop-up work, extraction, technical assessments, and transport of humanitarian relief equipment or goods.

A 47-year-old Zimbabwean national has been arrested after being suspected of generating fraudulent documents in Hillbrow.
It includes identity documents, birth certificates, smart identity cards, passports, bank statements, Covid-19 certificates, work permits, police firearm licence competency certificates, Sassa cards, bank cards, and other essential documents. Some say he is more efficient than home affairs

A provincial state of disaster was declared in KZN but Cabinet decided it was not enough.
The damage by caused by the #KZNFloods have extensive consequences and will not just affect KZN. As a result, President Ramaphosa has declared a national state of disaster as of Monday 18 April 2022. According to the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government, 443 people have reportedly died in the wake of the flooding and 48 people are still missing. (as of Tuesday 19 April at 06:00)
339 were in eThekwini, 30 in Ilembe District, 5 in King Cetshwayo, 7 in Ugu and two in uMzinyathi
