Vacations and breaks away from work are always something we look forward to - especially the good memories, but sometimes they provide us with low moments we wish we could forget.

The Breakfast Team has decided to reflect on their high and low moments during the recent summer break:

Darren

High Moments

'I'm very lucky, I got to have my daughter, 'The Mouse' for the entire December holiday. All the little things we did together were definite highs. We put up and took down the Christmas tree together. I don't read to her anymore, she reads to me at bed time. We built sand castles and cycled around Moses Mabhida, all of these moments were amazing but the one that stood out the most to me was that at her tender age of nine, she decided to play, PlayStation with me. We also shared a huge pink flamingo inflatable at Suncoast,' Darren said.

Low Moments

'Whilst enjoying Durban and going to all these places, there was just an incredible amount of litter, especially on our Beaches. You walk onto the beaches and everywhere where you look has litter, from coke bottles to ice cream cones. This just makes our beautiful province look a bit of an icky,' he added.

Overall, Darren had a very meaningful vacation. He is happy to be back gracing the airwaves.

Keri Miller

High Moments

'I definitely had a holi-yay! I had only moved back to Durban a year ago so I had a lot of KZN to discover. I spent a lot of my time in swimming pools with every inflatable for sale. Blow up flamingo's, swans, balls, glitter tubes and pool noodles. My brother was in town from Germany and it was so nice having my whole family together celebrating our Christmas traditions. One of my favorite highlights was an adult party that we threw where we had adult inflatables. Adult jumping castles, bubble machines and we were covered in balloons. It was just a jol! I also visited the Umhlanga Village for the first time,' said Keri.

By the 'sounds' of things, Keri may have had too much fun over the holidays. Watch below:

Low moments

'I can't say that I had any low moments because I had a beautiful holiday. I could have done more yoga though and just before coming back to work I got kind of depro because I was enjoying the leave so much,' she added.

Overall, Keri is well rested and feels incredibly blessed  to be doing a job that she loves so much that it doesn't feel like she's working a day in her life.

Sky Tshabalala

High Moments

'On the 16th of December Kaizer Chiefs played against Ajax Cape Town. Being a Chiefs supporter, I usually attend the matches when they're in Durban but when I do they never seem to win, this time they won! That was a massive victory for them and I was pretty epic, I was chuffed about that. Then I went down to Vryheid to spend time with my mother who I don't see often, so spending my Christmas and New Year with her was my greatest highlight' said Sky.

Low Moments

'I woke up on Christmas morning to absolutely no water! There was no water for four days so we had to go look for bore holes, so I spent my Christmas morning driving around in my uncles van with buckets and massive 25l drums,' he added.

Overall, Sky had a great holiday catching up with family and friends, and spent quality time with his mum. He even met someone who gave him a "Shower thought" to pass on to Darren.

Shower thought from Vryheid: 'What do you call Sky when he gets tackled on the rugby field? A Sky fall'
