Same-sex relationships legal in Angola
In January 2019, new legislation decriminalising same-sex relationships in Angola had been passed by parliament, but it has taken more than two years for the law to be taken into effect.
The president had signed it into law in November and so as of the 10th of February 2021, it is no longer illegal to be in a same-sex relationship.
KZN continues its fight against rhino poaching
The Ezemvelo’s Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park (HiP) has established a new unit that will help them protect their rhinos against poaching.
What makes this unit different from any other anti-poaching group? Well, the group consists of dogs!
Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has collaborated with multiple organisations in the private sector to create a dog unit, called HiP K9 Unit, that will be operating inside HiP. Hopefully, this unit will help prevent any further gruesome rhino killings.
Kaizer Chiefs match delayed over health concerns
The Kaizer Chiefs team was scheduled to be playing against Moroccans Wydad Casablanca for their CAF Champions League fixture, but that has now been delayed.
Morocco had refused to issue the team their visas because of health and safety concerns. They decided to err on the side of caution when it was clear that South Africa was seeing a spike in COVID-19 cases.
How to survive on a deserted island
Two men and a woman from Cuba were stuck on a deserted island for 33 days. They had ended up on the island after their boat had capsized in rough waters. They swam to the safety of the island and for the next five weeks lived off coconuts.
They were finally rescued by a US Coast Guard aircraft, who was out on routine patrol and had spotted their makeshift flag.

It turns out that in the city of Junagadh, India, lions roaming around are not that uncommon.
However, that doesn't make it any less unnerving when they casually stroll into areas populated by humans.
Hotel CCTV footage recently captured a young lion entering the establishment's parking lot! He was strolling around for some time before going on his way again.
It also turns out that the residents in the city pride themselves in the fact that these events take place quite regularly and they feel it symbolises the beautiful human-wildlife mutual co-existence experience.
