2020 Year in Review: The rise and fall of Miss SA entrant Bianca Schoombee

The Miss SA entrant was under fire for her old tweets and had to withdraw from the pageant.

In May this year when applications for the next Miss SA opened, a favourite and hopeful at the time was Bianca Schoombee from Pretoria.

Many Tweeps were rooting for her to take over from then Miss SA, Sasha-Lee Olivier, but her dark past caught up with her. 

One tweep dug into the archives and found racist tweets by the 21-year-old model, as well as some tweets where she was body-shaming women - the tweets were published when she was 14.

After trending and being dragged, Schoombee downplayed the tweets; saying she was disappointed that people actually dug into her past to find fault with her. However, after her modeling agency dropped her and announced her withdrawal from the pageant, she apologised and deactivated her account.
