2020 Year in Review: Crabs join a family braai

Not just any crabs, but ferociously large crustaceans arrived in their numbers

About 50 giant crabs invade family's dinner

Imagine having the braai out, coals burning, and meat sizzling when approximately 50 guests arrive uninvited?!

And not 50 people, but 50 giant crabs crawling all around you and your family.

This is exactly what happened to a family in Australia earlier this year when they were having their dinner at a campsite - and they have pictures to prove it.

According to Christmas Island Tourism Facebook account, which is where the family of four had their vacation, the smell of sausage is irresistible for these types of crabs - referred to as coconut crabs and measuring up to a metre in length.

They are said to have an incredible sense of smell and so they made their way to the braai:

Robber crabs behaving badly! 😝 a couple of local #christmasisland families had a few extra mouths to feed at their BBQ...
