Today East Coast Radio celebrates its 19th Birthday.
To celebrate this momentous day we decided to throw it way back to 1996.
We thought it would just be fitting to ask Darren, Natarah and Sky what they were doing 19-years-ago, before radio.
Up first is Darren:
‘I was studying Drama and was not sure what to do with my hair! The drama bug had hit me and I was doing imitations of physical comedy personalities, Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin and Lee Evans. I didn’t develop my own personality until 6-years later’
Natarah:
'I was a teenager in 1996 and I remember having to adjust as I’d been transferred to a new high school. That year my mum also introduced me to waxing!
I had my first leg wax and all I wanted to do was jump off that bed! Flip it was painful!!! That year my brother and I gave my parents an ultimatum. We asked begged them to have another baby or get us a dog. We got a puppy the following year'
Sky:
'This picture was taken in 1996 (so my parents tell me).
To be honest I don't remember much from that age but I know I was in Grade R.
Didn't have any problems in life, didn't know tequila exists or beer and I was beginning to understand Bafana Bafana and South Africa was the same thing.'
