If Zaba Simbine’s name was in the dictionary, you’d probably find the words “bubbly”, “enthusiastic” and “life of the party” as the description! This young woman is multi-talented – she is a radio and TV presenter AND an astute businesswoman.

 

Zaba is the face of a jewellery range and a presenter for youth lifestyle TV show Hectic Nine 9. A self-confessed chatterbox, Zaba was always told that she’d make a career out of talking, and “they” weren’t wrong! The glamour girl has been in the limelight since the age of three, doing pageants, modeling and adverts. 

 

So where does radio fit in? Well, Zaba got into radio by chance, after a friend who worked in the industry gave her a push in the right direction. She worked at Durban Youth Radio and VOW FM before joining East Coast Radio as a trainee DJ. A family person at heart, Zaba says, “I credit a lot of my drive to my parents, purely because they taught me that hard work pays off. They also taught me that a little fun doesn’t hurt!”

 

Zaba wants her new show to be a reflection of herself and the younger listenership of ECR. “I want the show to tackle issues that we are faced with in a light hearted manner. I also want it to be your morning espresso and put a smile on your face and start off the day with happiness.”
