Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
Speaking at the opening of the Makgatho Lewanika Mandela Primary School in Mvezo, near Mthatha today, Zuma said any school that is opened in the country today is a tribute to the late president as he loved children.
Today's event was hosted by the Mandela royal family and was also graced by Eastern Cape Premier, Phumulo Masualle, Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, some MECs as well as representatives of the Chinese embassy.
In his address president Zuma said Mandela believed every child deserves a quality education for the betterment of the country.
"We wish all communities could do so. The Mvezo komkhulu's focus on education is evident through the establishment and realisation of the Mandela School of Science and Technology, the Nolusapho Early Childhood Development Centre and now the new Makgatho Lewanika Mandela Primary School. Indeed, we do have a good story to tell," he said.
