Trevor Noah's tweets come back to haunt him

Just hours after the announcement that Trevor Noah would succeed Jon Stewart as the host of the Daily Show, some of his old tweets have been dug up, and well, it's not looking great.

Fans of the Daily Show have already started causing a stir, threatening to boycott the show, accusing Noah of being anti-Semitic and referring to his humour as highly offensive.

Many of Noah's old tweets have surfaced, and many are arguing they paint a picture of a sexist, anti-semite.

It is likely the stir caused by these fans of the Daily Show will prove to be nothing more than a storm in a teacup.

But it nevertheless highlights the responsibility celebrities have when posting on social media, as well as the permanence of those posts and the ability they have to return like ghosts of the past.

The 31-year-old comedian made his debut on the Comedy Central show as a political correspondent and is now set to succeed Stewart as host.

What do you think?

Do you think Noah's Twitter history should affect his future OR do you think comedians have carte blanche when it comes to social media posts?
